THE STRESSED PRONOUNS
Stressed pronouns are used for emphasis. Each subject pronoun has a corresponding stressed (or tonic) pronoun.

The stressed pronoun is used:
as the object of a preposition:
| Je travaille pour lui. |
| I work for him. |
| Ils travaillent toujours chez eux. |
| They always work at home. |
| C'est à vous? |
| Is it your turn? |
in positive commands to replace me or te in final position:
| Souviens-toi. |
| Remember. |
| Donne-le-moi. |
| Give it to me. |
| Raconte-moi l'histoire. |
| Tell me the story. |
when no verb is implied:
| Et vous, vous êtes français? |
| And you, are you French? |
| Qui est à la porte?C'est moi, Hubert. |
| Who's at the door?It's me, Hubert. |
| J'aime les pommes.Moi aussi. |
| I love apples.Me too. |
| Je n'aime pas les ascenseurs. Moi non plus. |
| I don't like elevatorsMe neither. |
when a subject pronoun is used with another subject:
| Mon ami et moi, nous partons au Méxique. |
| My friend and I leave for Mexico. |
| Elle et lui sont de très bons amis. |
| She and he are very good friends. |
to show a contrast or create emphasis:
| Lui, il n'est pas français. Il est tunisien. |
| As for him, he's not French, he's Tunisian. |
| Moi, je suis belge. |
| As for me, I'm Belgian. |
